What was the problem?
Bode Miller, Olympic and World Championship gold medalist, and Martin Kawalski, Swiss startup Snowcookie Sports CEO wanted to create a free ski platform based on a wholly game-changing idea. They were aware that first time skiing can be discouraging and even experienced skiers have problems with constant injuries. The system they planned to develop was supposed to help them enhance technique, measure performance and provide useful professional feedback.
What was done on our side to solve it?
We created a functional app which automatically detects a skier’s downhill and provides valuable information on the level of proficiency, progress, and inadequacies that still need some improvement. It measures the body position, speed, turn IQ, style, stamina, and intensity.
Apart from that, we also developed dedicated sensors that can connect to the SKEO app and deliver more accurate data and measurements. The kit consists of two sensors that can be attached to the skis, and one chest harness.
What was the result?
The application works together with the sensors providing the skiers with a precise analysis of their performance. They get comprehensive run statistics that allow them to polish their style and technique avoiding future injuries. The solution will be constantly updated and improved to bring an even better experience to its users.
Universal Alpine Ranking (UAR)
A scoring ranking developed by Bode Miller evaluates the skier’s performance based on a personal survey and data acquired while skiing.
The app was integrated with a visual depiction of the skier’s position based on the gathered movement analysis and helping provide professional feedback.
Users can follow each other in the app according to their location and personal privacy preferences. Comparing the results and challenging one another lets them enhance their performance even better.
If the system discovers some areas that need to be worked on, skiers are offered with some quest challenges adjusted individually to their skills and capabilities.
